Winter Road Maintenance Now “Remarkable”

The province’s transportation minister says municipalities in northwestern Ontario appear satisfied with winter road maintenance now that changes have been made to the service.
Glen Murray says he met with about 17 municipalities Tuesday afternoon and they stated that service in the north is now “remarkable and good”.
Murray says the addition of the 50 extra snowplows appears to have improved the situation.
He notes there will be more changes coming next winter to improve highway snow clearing in the region.
Some don’t agree 100% with Murray.
Kenora-Rainy River MPP Sarah Campbell is reminding Murray of his promise to visit northwestern Ontario this winter.
Campbell says he promised to take a first hand look at road conditions in the region back in the fall, but so far he has managed to stay away.
She says she’s contacted his office numerous times and has heard no response.
Campbell says she’s wondering if Murray is nervous to drive our roads or waiting until the Spring when things improve.
