A winter storm warning remains in effect across the Kenora district.
The region is experiencing rain, which will change to ice pellets then to snow this afternoon and tonight.
Some 15-centimetres of snow is expected when all is said and done and travel is expected to be treacherous the next 48-hours.
The storm follows a record breaking day across the region.
Record highs were reached in Dryden, Ear Falls, Sioux Lookout, Atikokan, Fort Frances and Thunder Bay.
Atikokan hit 7.8 – old record was 1.4 set 2006
Dryden hit 5.9 – old record was 1.0 set 2006
Ear Falls hit 4.4 – old record was 1.1 – tied in 2006 and 1953 – set 1934
Fort Frances hit 8.3 – old record was 3.0 set 1990
Kenora hit 5.9 – old record was 1.3 set 1990
Sioux Lookout hit 6.2 – old record was 0.8 set 2006
Thunder Bay hit 7.2 – old record was 3.9 set 1953
