Winter storm warning issued for Dryden and Vermilion Bay

A winter storm warning is in effect for Dryden and Vermilion Bay, with hazardous winter conditions expected throughout the day.

Environment Canada is forecasting up to 15 centimetres of snow and strong wind gusts reaching 70 km/h, which will lead to poor visibility and blowing snow.

Temperatures are set to drop rapidly from above freezing to well below freezing, creating icy and slippery conditions on roads, highways, and walkways.

The storm is expected to end early Saturday evening.

With colder air moving in from the west, rain, freezing rain, or ice pellets will quickly transition to snow, adding to difficult travel conditions.

Drivers are urged to avoid unnecessary travel and prepare for sudden changes in road conditions.
