Winter Weather East Results In Poor Road Conditions

Motorists are being asked to slow down and use caution when travelling.

Bill Laidlaw of Signal Weather Services says an early blast of winter east of us has resulted in poor driving conditions.

“Basically the terrain gets a lot higher as you get between Ignace and Raith and with that, that’s enhancing the snowfalls that we’ve been getting a little taste of all across the region and so it’s actually sticking to the ground.”

Laidlaw says Upsala saw about 3-centimetres of snow Thursday, while areas east received higher amounts.

Laidlaw warns “We’ve got another low coming out of the west on Saturday. So that’s going to give us a dusting of snow throughout our area. With the higher terrain, Ignace eastward, it’s going to be much higher snowfall amounts and possibly as much as another 10-15cm is expected.”
