Some folks may be calling Mother Nature a “turkey” this long weekend.
The early blast of winter has caused concerns for those hitting the road and nothing but darkness for some in Red Lake.
All highways and roads are open in the northwest, but police are urging motorists to take it easy, especially with an increase in traffic.
On the hydro front, Hydro One is still trying to determine the cause of a major power outage in the Red Lake area.
The power has been out in several hours since yesterday afternoon and right now there’s no end in site.
Spokesperson Nancy Shaddick says they are still trying to find the cause of the outage.
Some 2,100 Hydro One customers are impacted.
A winter storm warning is still in effect in Red Lake and Ear Falls.
Power is also out in eastern Manitoba.
More than 4,600 Manitoba Hydro customers are without power in and around Falcon Lake, Vita, Piney and Point Dubois.
