Winter is back in Northwestern Ontario!
Up to 15 cm of snow has fallen in the Dryden area giving many students a longer-than-anticipated Easter Break.
School buses were cancelled this morning in Dryden, Ignace and Ear Falls.
Police and Fire crews were also hopping.
Minor injuries were reported when a vehcile left Richan Road and wound up in a ravine.
Oxdrift Fire and OPP responded to the scene just after 10 o’clock.
Police responded to several fender benders throughout the region but no serious injuries were reported.
As well OPP had to close Highway 502 after two transports jack-knifed blocking the way.
No injuries reported.
502 has since re-opened.
On the plus side, the Ministry of Natural Resources says when the snow melts, it should help reduce the risk of forest fires in the area.
More than a dozen “human caused” fires have already been recorded since the fire season began April 1st.
WINTER WONDERLAND!!!
