Women Murdered In Fort Hope

A 26-year-old woman is dead following an assault on Fort Hope First Nation.

Provincial Police were contacted by Nishnawbe-Aski Police to assist with an investigation after two people were attacked.

A young person was initially arrested on four counts of aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

One of the victims, 26 year-old Arlene Wapoose of Fort Hope, died from her injuries on Sunday.

The accused was re-arrested Tuesday and charged with Second Degree Murder.

Because of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, no name can be released

Police continue to investigate.
