Ministry of Natural Resources officials in Red Lake are working with
Pikangikum First Nation to survey woodland caribou calving areas in the
Whitefeather Forest.
The two sides are trying to further their understanding of caribou
calving trends during the Summer months in order to better protect the
animals future.
The MNR says the knowlege of elders and trappers in the area is
essential for the success of the survey.
