An important step in improving relations with the community and area First Nations continues in Dryden.
The City and the Dryden Native Friendship Centre are just two groups involved in the drafting of an Urban Aboriginal Action Plan.
Centre Executive Director Sally Ledger says work has been ongoing for more than two years.
Ledger stresses it’s important that everyone works together to ensure the needs of all aboriginals are being met.
Ledger says discussions have been positive and have focused on several crucial issues including transportation, engaging youth, supporting elders, the promotion of culture, housing, food insecurity, health, mental health, education, training and employment.
Stakeholders are expected to meet again shortly for the development and writing of an action plan.
