World-Record Breaker Speaks To Local Students

Words of inspiration and motivation for Dryden High School students.
Jamie McDonald is running across the country all on his own, raising money for Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto.
McDonald spoke at DHS this afternoon, and tells CKDR that this isn’t his first marathon trip.
In 2012, he cycled 14,000 miles from Bangkok to his hometown Gloucester, England.
He also pedaled for 265 hours, breaking the world record.
McDonald says he had a Visa for Canada, and didn’t know he was going to come out and run, adding he had never done it before.
At DHS, McDonald spoke about the challenges he faced and his reasons for supporting Sick Kids Hospital, as well as another hospital back in his hometown where he spent the first 9-years of his life in and out with a disease that affects motor skills.
McDonald’s main message to the students is that there is a turning point in everyone’s life, and they shouldn’t be afraid to do what they are truly passionate about.
