A Dryden man charged with drug trafficking may be a victim of being
at the wrong place at the wrong time.
21-year-old John Hatfield was arrested last week when RCMP in
Caronport, Saskatchewan pulled over a vehicle he was a passenger in and
located 50-pounds of pot in the trunk.
A family member says John was an innocent hitchhiker who was heading
home from his job in Alberta and he knew nothing about the drugs.
The driver, a 35-year-old Winnipeg woman, supported the statement
Monday.
Hatfield has been released on conditions, including he must stay in
Dryden until his next court appearance in January.
