Wynne Won’t Make Promises To Fort Frances

Kathleen Wynne says the fate of the Fort Frances Crown Attorney’s office is not in her hands.

The premier is reacting to news that the town’s government prosecutor is expected to retire soon.

In an exclusive interview with Acadia Broadcasting, Wynne said ultimately, it’s not up to the government to decide if he’s to be replaced with a resident prosecutor. She says all the province can do is work with the Crown Attorney’s office, and she can’t preempt that process.

The province, however Wynne adds, will work to ensure the Rainy River District has the services that crown attorney’s provide. The district has also been without a resident judge for a couple of years now. (File photo)
