The Wabigoon chain of lakes has become a little more safer and
communication has improved.
The Dryden Yacht Club has erected a decommissioned CKDR radio tower and high range antenna
that will allow boaters to contact the club anywhere on the lake.
Commodore Bob Skeene says a number of people came forward to get the
project off the ground.
Skeene says cell phone coverage fades out at the bottom of Dinorwic
Lake, which means boaters can no longer call-in an emergency.
He says most club members have vhf submarine band radios which
will extend the range.
