York Regional Police Called In To Help Thunder Bay Police

The province’s Chief Coroner says his decision to bring in an outside police force to help Thunder Bay Police investigate recent First Nations deaths is about getting the best answers.

Dirk Huyer has ordered the York Regional Police to help look into the deaths of Josiah Begg and Tammy Keeash.

Huyer doesn’t see his move as questioning the police force and its credibility.

Huyer says it will bring in a “fresh set of eyes” and different perspective to look at all the facts into the investigations.

He notes this will now be a cooperative probe and getting the best answers to a number of unanswered questions.

Huyer believes Thunder Bay Police welcomes the move.
