Young Teen Identified in Fatal Crash

The victim of Saturday afternoon’s collision on Highway 17 has been identified as 14-year-old Tristen Wise.
Dryden OPP say Wise was a pedestrian on the Trans-Canada Highway when he was struck by a transport near Glengoland Road around 3 o’clock.
He was transported to Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Wise was a Grade 9 student at Dryden High School and teachers and councilors are working with grieving students and families today. (Monday)
Flags are also at half-mast.
He was also a member of the newly established Dryden Youth Council and was helping draft a ‘Child and Youth Strategic’ plan for the City.
The driver of the transport was not injured and no charges are expected to be laid.
OPP continue to investigate the circumstances behind the young teens death.
The crash forced the closure of the Trans-Canada Highway for nearly 4-hours.
