Ear Falls continues to take steps to generate more economic opportunities.
The community is hosting its first ever Lac Seul Walleye Cup on July 28th and 29th.
Kevin Kahoot is one of the organizers and he was a guest on the CKDR Morning Show Tuesday to promote the tournament.
Kahoot says the derby fills a void in the competitive fishing circuit and is also aimed at boosting tourism and showcasing their camps.
The tournament features a guaranteed $15,000 prize for the top team of two.
Entry is $400 per team and it’s a catch and kill derby.
Kahoot says they are trying to emulate the highly successful tournament that is held in Sioux Lookout.
Kahoot notes they have a great committee in place to organize the tournament and stresses interest has already been high.
