Dryden Council has approved a new Firefighter Remuneration Policy which provides a 1.75% wage hike across the board.
Firefighters will see $24.37 an hour, while fire officers will be paid $28.02 an hour.
The new rates take effect August 1st.
Pay periods will be adjusted to monthly and there will no longer be differing rates of pay for differing tasks.
Council had already agreed to the changes in the 2018 budget, however there were some delays in its implementation.
Fire Chief Ryan Murrell says the new agreement is fair, removes a lot of complexity that existed in the older agreement, and promotes the value of training.
Some on Council say its reasonable and sensible and is part of a larger picture of negotiations in the municipality.
