Dryden Victims In Fatal Collision In Manitoba

Tragedy strikes the City of Dryden as two residents are dead after a two-vehicle collision in Manitoba.

RCMP say on Sunday at around 11:15am the collision took place on Highway 1 near Barren Lake in Whiteshell Provincial Park.

Police say investigations have determined that an eastbound vehicle stopped abruptly and a semi-truck also travelling eastbound crossed into the westbound lane to avoid colliding with that vehicle.

Police say the eastbound semi next collided with a pick-up truck travelling westbound causing both vehicles to veer off the highway.

RCMP say the driver of the pickup truck, a 54-year-old man and a passenger, a 17-year-old man, both from Dryden were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police also say the 22-year-old male semi-truck driver from Mississauga and 28-year-old male passenger from Brampton sustained minor injuries.

The RCMP and the Forensic Collision Reconstructionist are continuing the investigation and no names have been released.
