2017 Dryden Financials Released

The City of Dryden made some positive financial gains in 2017.

A year-end report shows revenues coming in at $28.1-million, with expenses finishing at $27.6-million.

The City finished $0.5-million in the black, which was within 1.8% of the budget.

Treasurer Steven Lansdell-Roll says they also managed to pay down the City debt by $2.3-million.

As of December 31st, 2017, Dryden’s long-term debt stood at $17-million dollars, $20.1-million with principle and interest.

Wages and benefits were also down by about $150,000 due to vacancies incurred throughout the year.

Meantime, infrastructure needs are still high in Dryden.

The 2017 year-end financial report shows capital projects were $353,000 under budget.

Some projects from last year and even 2016 have been deferred to 2018 and the unspent money has been allocated to capital reserves.

Steven Lansdell-Roll says infrastructure needs are still very high and the City isn’t in a financial position to spend what they should be on capital upgrades.

However, he stresses debt reduction has been the top priority and they are aggressively moving forward on that front.

He notes 2018 financials are on track.
