A Winnipeg area man has been fined $3,000 for erecting a structure without a permit and disobeying a stop work order.
Court heard that Garth Steek is the owner of a cottage property in Clearwater Bay on Lake of the Woods, which is in what is considered a restricted area.
During the Summer of 2016, Steek constructed a bunkhouse on the property but an inspection revealed it was illegally constructed without a permit.
The following year a second check on the property found work had continued still without a permit.
Steek has been ordered to remove the structure.
Two other individuals received suspended sentences in the same case.
