Hearst Man Banned From Hunting For Six Years

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is reminding hunters that shooting from or down a road is both dangerous and illegal.

A Hearst man has learned that lesson the hard way as he’s been hit with a hefty fine relating to an October 2019 incident near the town of Nestor Falls.

Christian Couture has been ordered to pay $6,000 and won’t be able to hunt for six-years.

Conservation officers were conducting a white-tailed deer decoy operation on a popular forestry road.

They spotted Couture opening his door, standing in the vehicle, and shooting at the fake deer.

He must complete an Ontario Hunting Education Course before being able to purchase another hunting licence.

Couture pleaded guilty in a Kenora Court.
