A number of individuals in Fort Frances have been charged after a police officer was assaulted during an investigation.
Last Thursday afternoon, an officer identified a person who was wanted on a warrant and attempted to make an arrest.
Others nearby became involved and interfered.
The incident escalated and a police vehicle was damaged and the officer was assaulted with a weapon by one of the accused.
The officer and members of the public weren’t injured in the altercation.
As a result of the investigation, police seized an airsoft look alike handgun, a stun gun, four grams of Methamphetamine, 6.7 grams of Fentanyl, four Hydromorphone capsules, and over $8,000 cash.
A total of eight people were arrested, including two youth.
