Canadian Military Supporting First Nations

The Canadian Military will assist in the administering of COVID-19 vaccines in remote First Nations fly-in communities in northern Ontario.

Emergency Preparedness Minister Bill Blair says they are responding to a request made by the province.

About 100 Canadian Rangers will coordinate vaccination efforts with the Sioux Lookout First Nation Health Authority and the Weeneebayko Area Health Authority.

The military’s role will be mainly around logistics and administrative support.
