A campaign has been launched by the Northwestern Health Unit encouraging the public to learn about health issues impacting our area and how the next provincial government plans to address them.
It’s called “Get Informed, Be Heard, and Vote.”
Officials stress a number of concerns need to be addressed including climate and environment, income and poverty, housing, discrimination and acceptance as well as food insecurity.
They stress most of these issues have worsened throughout the pandemic.
The Health Unit is asking local residents to research the party platforms on healthcare and make an informed decision at the ballot box Thursday.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kit Young Hoon says, “We hope that people can use the information as they discuss and think about health related issues in the upcoming election.”
She adds, “Public policy can make a difference in the health of residents. Socio-economic, cultural, and environmental conditions impact healthy behaviours, health inequities and the overall health of the population.
