A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for the Dryden, Sioux Lookout, Kenora and Ignace areas – and as of 4:30 Severe Thunderstorm Warnings have been issued for Red Lake, Fort Frances and Atikokan.
Environment Canada says conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts of up to 100 km/hr, nickel to quarter sized hail and heavy rain.
Scattered thunderstorms are forecast to develop this afternoon and will continue into early tonight.
