Expect to see more trees popping up all over northwestern Ontario.
A program that was established in 2008 by the provincial government is expanding to reach a goal of planting 50 million trees by 2025.
Director of Programs at Forests Ontario Al Corlett says at least 400,000 to 500,000 trees will be planted across northwestern Ontario in a year.
Corlett says they will provide financial support to land owners who would like to take part in the initiative.
Corlett notes Forests Ontario has been working with J.B. Harrison & Associates on the program in Dryden.
He adds the program has partners in Kakabeka Falls and Kenora.
