The Dryden Native Friendship Centre is the new host agency for the Healing Trail Program.
The diabetes education initiative was delivered by the Hospital for 3 years.
Program Manager Jane Kavanaugh says the move makes sense as the Centre is seen as a comfortable environment with high aboriginal traffic.
Kavanaugh says the same services will be offered and there are plans for expansion.
She says they hope to eventually become recognized as an educational institute.
Kavanaugh says they want to also form stronger relationships with aboriginal organizations and the community.
The Healing Trail Program has secured funding from Health Canada for the initiative.
