The union representing public elementary teachers says
it’s close to a deal with the government that could make changes to current contracts.
But the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario and the
government say no money has been added to the pot.
The union says it’s reached “understandings” with the
government on issues like maternity leave and sick days.
President Sam Hammond says he’s not sure when they might reach a tentative agreement, like their high school counterpart.
The announcement comes a week after the union told its members that it was O-K to return to extracurricular activities.
Hammond says he doesn’t think there was harm done to students by withdrawing extracurriculars.
He says the actions the teachers took to get them where they are today were worth it.
