A Talk About Diabetes In Dryden

The Canadian Diabetes Association held an information session in Dryden this afternoon.
Public Programs and Services Coordinator with the Northwest Region Richard Boon says one of the many things those living with diabetes need to consider is their medications.
On average, a person with type 2 diabetes will end up on insulin after 7 years.
However Boon says however you treat the diabetes the day you are diagnosed, will probably change over time.
This may mean having medications adjusted a couple times a year.
However, Boon says that if you eat a balanced meal and exercise on a regular basis (about 150 minutes a week for adults), there may not be a need for medications.
