A number of accomplishments for the Dryden Police Service in 2017.
A year-end report has been presented to Council, highlighting the positives and future concerns.
Chief Doug Palson says one area that doesn’t get a lot of fanfare is the work being done by the Dryden Area Risk Response Team.
Their situation table was huge for 2017 and will continue into 2018 and Palson hopes it will still deliver significant results.
The initiative is a new multi-agency intervention tool for people at high risk of harm, victimization or criminalization.
Palson also called attention to the Project Sunset initiative which is a youth development program in co-operation with the OPP that targets kids at a young age and provides education, physical activity and mentorship, while teaching life and social skills and critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
He also mentions the addition of a by-law officer was a significant change as well, even though it may not seem important to many.
Police are reporting 288 parking infractions last year, compared to only 128 in 2016.
Finally, Palson also praises the Community Service program, calling it one of the main pillars of their police force.
