Abitibi Shutdown

Abitibi-Consolidated says it will be shutting down operations in Kenora for 3 weeks in August.
The Company says the shutdown is for “inventory adjustment, “ meaning there is too much newsprint in stock.
The move comes as a blow to local operations after optimism of last Winter when the Company announced plans to reduce the amount of downtime.
There are 375 people working at the Mill.
