Celebrating First Nations entrepreneurs in the forest industry by offering them five-grand.
The Forest Products Association of Canada and the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business are accepting nominations for this year’s Aboriginal Business Leadership Award.
Director of Environment with FPAC Robert Larocque says the nominees are judged on business leadership, longevity, employment of Aboriginal peoples, safety and environment performance, consistency of goods and services provided and commitment to the Aboriginal community.
On the larger scale, Larocque says they are looking at renewing their workforce by 60,000 people by 2020 and one way of getting Aboriginals involved in the industry is partnering up.
He notes that FPAC is one of the largest employers of Aboriginals in the country, but it still only represents 8% of their workforce.
The deadline to make a nomination is July 30th, with the awards being handed out on September 23rd.
