The long journey from Fredricton, New Brunswick to Attapapiskat First Nation begins today. (Friday)
Maple Leaf Homes is starting to deliver 22-modular homes to the troubled community.
The homes will be sent to Cochrane and delivered to the First Nation once the winter road system opens.
Sales Manager Jacques Roy says their homes are very energy efficient with super insulation.
Roy says they have a lot of experience with this type of housing.
He adds it feels good to be able to help some of the people of Attawapiskat.
Meantime, another shipment of emergency supplies is to head to Attawapiskat First Nation by plane today.
The shipment will include necessary supplies such as Styrofoam insulation, beds, diesel generators and drywall.
The plane carrying the supplies is departing from Timmins.
