A Northern Ontario Liberal MPP is pleased the Province has been able
to move forward with a bill that will unseal Ontario adoption records.
Thunder Bay-Superior North’s Michael Gravelle says there were some
concerns regarding privacy but he believes protective measures are in
place.
Gravelle says the bill still provides a “no contact veto” for birth
parents that don’t want to be contacted.
He adds the Legislation won’t be enacted for another 18 months
because the Province plans to embark on an advertising campaign to inform
those who are affected.
