Assembly of First Nations National Chief Perry Bellegarde says he’s looking forward to working with Canada’s new Governor General.
Julie Payette was sworn in Monday as the 29th Governor General of Canada.
Bellegarde is encouraging Payette to meet with First Nations in their territories as much as possible and to learn about the Treaty relationship.
Bellegarde adds he’s certain Payette will work hard to continue the momentum created by recent Governors General in building positive relations with First Nations.
He’s also acknowledging the service and commitment of Governor General David Johnston.
