Aggressive Future Plan Introduced At Dryden Native Friendship Centre

The Dryden Native Friendship Centre has released its five year strategic plan.

The strategy focuses on addressing youth leadership, community partnerships, skills development, culture, infrastructure and programs.

The plan also focuses on building infrastructure and capacity, staff retention, language and culture retention as well as forming community partnerships.

Executive Director Sally Ledger adds they intend to introduce new programs and initiatives focusing on tele-medicine, urban aboriginal strategies and housing.

Ledger notes a heavy emphasis is being put on youth.

She says that will include providing them with mentorship opportunities and allowing them to network and gain contacts.

Ledger adds they have established a Youth Council to allow youth to gain leadership and employment skills.

She says the strategy was developed with the help of over 400-stakeholders.

On the capital side, the plan centres around the development of the second floor of the Centre to allow for the growth of the organization.
