Agriculture New Growth Industry For Northern Ontario

Agriculture could be a new growth industry in northern Ontario.
That’s according to Area One Farms, which is trying to encourage more farming in the region.
Joelle Faulkner says there’s one good reason why agriculture can succeed in the north.
Faulkner says there is about a million acres of land in northern Ontario that could be converted back to farmland.
She says since southern Ontario has lost about a million acres of farmland to development in the past decade, redeveloping agriculture land in the north could help the province improve its food security.
Faulkner notes the region also has easy access to water supplies.
