The province has strengthened air ambulance service in northwestern Ontario,
Ornge Air Ambulance is adding additional staff to its Thunder Bay base.
President Dr. Andrew McCallum made the announcement today, saying they will add a third team of paramedics dedicated to performing helicopter transports.
McCallum says the number of people being hired aren’t available at this time but Ornge is looking to increase staff levels through the recruitment and training of additional paramedics.
The change will mean that each of the three Ornge aircraft in Thunder Bay, a helicopter and two airplanes, will have it’s own dedicated crew of paramedics supporting 24-7 operations.
