The issue of wildlife control at Regional Airports is at the forefront
after a medivac plane struck a large deer at the Kenora facility last week.
Dryden Airport Manager George Friesen says officials at 4-area
airports have launched a joint project looking at the effectiveness of
wildlife fencing and other safety measures.
Friesen says the recent incident in Kenora was not an isolated event.
In 1991, a plane hit a large buck at the Dryden Airport, causing
extensive damage to the aircraft.
The Sioux Lookout Airport is the only Regional facility with wildlife
fencing.
