Alice Livingstone

Alice was born in Kenora on June 15, 1928, the youngest daughter of Percy Graham Grafham and Jessie May Campbell. Spending all of her childhood years in the Kenora area, she attended local schools and churches there. Alice graduated from Kenora District High school, and was confirmed at the local Lutheran Church. She met Allan Livingstone in 1946 when he returned from serving overseas during WW2. They were married in August of 1947. Together they raised four children, Colleen, Curtis, Craig and Colin at various locations throughout Northwestern Ontario. When Allan had to move for employment reasons, Alice would pack up their children and belongings and move to a new home. But different surroundings did not hinder her, as she would adapt rather quickly, making new friends, usually by making friends with their pets first. She loved animals, and enjoyed warm days in the sun. Their home on the lake at Perrault Falls was a favorite of hers. Moving to Vermilion Bay for health reasons, they spent the last seven years there. Alice enjoyed gardening, taking care of her flowers and yard, as well as playing bingo with friends and neighbors she met in the Vermilion Bay area. She passed away on November 3, 2003, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Alice was predeceased by her parents, husband Alan on April 19, 2003, and several siblings a number of years ago. She is survived by her daughter Colleen Livingstone of Eagle River, sons, Curtis Livingstone of Kenora, Craig (Dianne) Livingstone of Redwing, Minnesota, USA and Colin Livingstone of Vermilion Bay. She will also be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Allan, Todd, Patricia, Amber, Sean, Shannon, Michelle, and Miranda. Great-grandchildren Brian, Brenden, Alexandra, and Gabriel. Also surviving are her sisters Jenny Handke of Maple Ridge, B.C., and Isabel Trelevan of Calgary, AB., and numerous nieces and nephews. A Private Memorial Service was held for Alice Livingstone at the Dryden Community Funeral Home on November 7, 2003 with Mr. John Mulders officiating. Interment of ashes followed at the Vermilion Bay Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made to Northern Cancer Research through the Dryden Community Funeral Home, 249 Grand Trunk Ave,.
