All-Candidates Forum in Dryden

A packed house at the Dryden Royal Canadian Legion Monday night for the All-Candidates Forum.
The forum featured both Mayoral candidates and all 11-candidates for Council.
A number of issues were discussed including conducting a police costing study, the economy, communication between Council and taxpayers as well as water meters.
While most conceded that water meters are here to stay, the cost of implementing them was the hot topic.
Incumbent Mayor Anne Krassilowsky says the meters are tied to 21-million dollars in Federal and Provincial funding for a new Sewage Treatment Plant.
Challenger Craig Nuttal says Seniors can’t afford the added cost.
Incumbent Councilors stated that no decision has been made on the cost of implementation.
As for the future of Policing in our community.
All of the candidates in this year’s Municipal election expressed gratitude towards the City service and warned of the dangers of going down the road of having OPP police the City.
Some did state they may entertain a study but that’s it.
