The Sioux Lookout Chamber of Commerce hosted the second all-candidates forum for the upcoming Federal election last night in the Royal Canadian Legion.
Three of five registered candidates attended – Incumbent Conservative Greg Rickford, former Liberal MP Roger Valley and NDP Hopeful Tanya Cameron were all there. Somewhat predictably, the candidates themes were familiar – Rickford citing the Conservative spending record in the riding and the need for stability, Valley talking about a somewhat different version of the Conservative record in Ottawa and Cameron praising her leader for being the only trustworthy and honest of the bunch. The themes were largely familiar to anyone who attended last weeks forum in Dryden. The audience asked question after question for well over an hour and a half – covering everything from storage of spent nuclear fuel in the Northwest, Seniors Care, Day Care, support for local farmers and even questions from Katimavik volunteers working in Sioux Lookout – all asked and answered by all three candidates.
