Taxes are going up 2.9% in Red Lake.
Council has approved the 2011 Budget and Mayor Phil Vinet says they were burdened by a $150,000 drop in funding from the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund.
Vinet adds the Municipality was hit with major increases from outside organizations; 14.1% in Homes for the Aged, 11.8% in policing costs, 5.5% from the Services Board and 5.1% from the Health Unit.
Vinet adds they are also facing a nearly $435,000 deficit in Child Care.
Council did approve an increase in funding for the Health Clinic and Homeless Shelter; $20,000 and $5,000 respectively.
