Several centimetres of snow has fallen in the last couple of hours, creating slippery conditions in some areas.
Most roads are snow covered and a brisk southeasterly wind is reducing visibility.
Crews are just setting out and many roads in the area are still not plowed.
Motorists are urged to drive with caution.
All highways are open.
