Province Introducing Back-To-Work Legislation For College Faculty

Local college students are sitting at home in limbo.

The provincial government plans to introduce back-to-work legislation Friday to end the five week long College faculty strike.

Queen’s Park wasn’t scheduled to sit today, but Premier Kathleen Wynne says she wants to see students back in the classroom.

All outstanding issues in the dispute between the Ontario Public Service Employees Union and Colleges will be referred to binding arbitration.

If passed, striking college workers would be required to return to their jobs as early as Monday.

However, NDP leader Andrea Horwarth says she won’t support it and is prepared to sit through the weekend fighting it.

The Liberals say that will happen if a settlement can’t be reached today.
