Alma Fuerst

In loving memory of Alma Fuerst, age 96 years, who passed away peacefully at her residence in Princess Court on April 2nd, 2016 with family but her side.

Alma Fuerst is survived by her children Lloyd Fuerst of Dryden, Leona Manchulenko of Dryden, Ivan Fuerst (Lynda) of Sioux Lookout, Sharon Young (Bob) of Sioux Lookout, Larry Fuerst of Chilliwack, Keith Fuerst (Kathy) of Chilliwack and Cathy Polny (Randy) of Dryden, by 16 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, her brothers Ernie and Alvin Schlecht as well as numerous other relatives.

Alma was predeceased by her husband Julius, son Kenneth Fuerst and daughter Donna Desautels, grandson Johnathon, twin sister Zelma, sisters Martha and Freda and brothers August and Ed.

Alma was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1919. Married to Julius in 1941 and moved to Dryden in 1946. During her time in Dryden she worked numerous jobs ending in working at the tree nursery. She had many passions starting with the care of her family, cooking, baking and quilting. Mom and her twin sister Zelma quilted together. During their quilting they donated many to their church which were auctioned and the proceeds forwarded to missions. She will be missed by her family but her legacy of quilting and cinnamon buns will continue.

A Funeral Service was held Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m in the Moffat Chapel of Stevens Funeral Homes with Ora Semeniuk officiating. Interment followed in the Dryden Cemetery. Visitation took place Tuesday, April 5 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Moffat Chapel of Stevens Funeral Homes.
