Alzheimer Society Looking For IPod’s For Music Project Campaign

If you’ve got an old iPod laying around the house, the Alzheimer Society of Kenora/Rainy River will take it of your hands.

The ‘Music Project’ reconnects people living with dementia with the “soundtrack of their life” using pre-programmed iPod’s.

Client Services Coordinator says Rylee Rieu says each playlist is personally geared towards each individual.

It’s been found that those struggling with dementia live better lives with the music that they grew up with.

The initiative started with two clients in Kenora, and has now grown to 50 throughout the district.

Rieu says they are now looking for donations of gently used iPods, headphones, ITunes gift cards as well as monetary donations.

The program is available at no cost to approved families.
