The NDP leader is trying to win over municipal politicians.
Speaking at the Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association Conference, Andrea Horwath is promising to restore funding under the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund.
Horwath says the Liberals have cut funding to the critical program and she predicts a Doug Ford government will cut even further.
Horwath says she wants to review all the winter road maintenance contracts and where possible put the service back into public hands.
She says the current government has allowed contracts to continue not withstanding all of the breaches of the contracts.
Horwath says the Liberals have fined these companies over and over again but they don’t pay, yet they continue to operate.
She finished by saying she is still committed to putting Hydro One back into public hands.
Horwath says they want to reverse the privatization of the electrical utility and cut hydro rates at the same time.
