The Dryden Ice Dogs had no problems with the Fort William North Stars 5 on 5, however the Stars capitalized on the powerplay to take a 2-0 lead in the Best-of-7 Bill Salonen Cup.
Fort William scored 4 times with the man advantage to knock off Dryden 5-2 Tuesday night in Thunder Bay.
The game was tied at 2 early in the second after Brendan McDonald and Joe Harding found the back of the net.
The Stars finished the game 4-7 on the powerplay, while Dryden failed to register a goal in 11 chances with the man advantage.
Game 3 is Friday night back in Dryden.
Everyone in attendance is urged to wear a hardhat to support the Ice Dogs.
