OPP say 3-people are dead following a multi-vehicle crash on Highway
17, east of Dryden.
3-cars collided near Basket Lake just before 11 o’clock Monday
morning.
Police say an eastbound car entered the westbound lane and struck
2-vehicles.
OPP say two people in the eastbound car died and they have been
identified as 83-year-old James Isaac and 87-year-old Theodora Isaac both
of Winnipeg.
The crash also claimed the life of 54-year-old Edward Day of Callender,
Ontario, an occupant in one of the westbound vehicles.
One person is in serious but stable condition in hospital and
1-person received minor injuries.
OPP continue to investigate but no charges are being considered at
this time.
The crash could have resulted in more fatalities if not for the quick actions of those close to the collision.
One motorist from Cape Breton Island was one of the first people on scene and says a number of people from across the country pulled together to assist the victims.
5-people have now died in just over a week on Highway 17 between
Ignace and Kenora.
